The golden era of LEGO® clone troopers ended in 2015, leaving collectors with a void that modern designs just can't fill. While the 2013-2015 RP2 template captured something special, it had its limitations: cut-off knees, missing arm prints, and design inconsistencies that left room for improvement. That's where we come in. TrooperLabs is dedicated to preserving what made RP2 great while evolving it into something even better with our RP2+ template.
Our story
TrooperLabs began with a simple frustration: wanting to collect clone troopers but finding nothing that matched the aesthetic we loved. Starting with homemade decal templates, we went through three iterations before connecting with a community of RP2 enthusiasts who helped us take the leap to professional pad printing. Our journey involved studying dozens of official LEGO® minifigures, analyzing line widths, proportions, and vector design language to understand exactly how LEGO® translated characters into minifigure form. We officially launched in November 2024.
Where we stand today
With eight unique custom LEGO® clone troopers released, we've created the only template that successfully interprets what RP2 could have become by adding white hips, full leg printing, arm printing, and hip printing without overburdening the figures with excessive detail or unnecessary 360-degree prints. Our community has embraced this refreshing take on custom clone troopers, recognizing that we've struck the perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation.
The mission continues
Our vision extends beyond perfecting the past. We're expanding into Clone Wars designs reimagined in the RP2+ style, completing the full roster of Revenge of the Sith on-screen clone troopers, and developing legion-specific variants including heavy troopers and specialists. Eventually, we'll even explore the RP1 template with figures like Alpha-17. Every new design follows our core principle: honoring the 2013-2015 aesthetic while delivering the quality and detail that era deserved.
